Life without the "Top 6 Allergens" can be difficult. T offers recipes, product and restaurant reviews as well as shopping guides to take some of the bite out of grabbing a bite on a restrictive diet.
T and D love taking trips to Home Goods. It sounds odd, but if you are looking for quirky or allergy safe products this is a place to find them. Recently, you might have noticed that we’ve upgraded the plates and serving pieces we’ve been showing the food on. This was thanks to one of our trips to Home Goods. On the same trip D picked up a package of this Sweet Potato and Cinnamon Muffin Mix. The only extra ingredients were eggs (Which we can use replacers for) and oil. Perhaps these would make up in some ways for T not being able to have pumpkin muffins.
Company Line: Delightfully balanced muffin with sweet potatoes, spices, and just the right amount of cinnamon and carrot.
Ingredients: Sorghum flour, organic coconut sugar, dried sweet potato, dried carrot, organic evaporated cane sugar, cinnamon, dried molasses, baking soda, chicory root inulin, natural vanilla powder, ginger powder, xantham gum, allspice powder, clove powder, rose hips powder
T’s Review: The moment that D started to mix this together it filled the apartment with a great Fall smell. They come out of the oven looking good and they truly taste as good as they look. My only complaint is that they fall apart as you eat them.
D’s Review: The package suggests adding dried fruit and I decided to ignore T’s protest and add dried cranberries to 3 of the 9 muffins we baked. They were delicious! I think the secret will be finding the right mix of things to keep this mix fresh and new. I’ll be looking into methods of improving the muffin’s physical integrity. Would make a nice carrot cake if I can figure out Daiya cream cheese frosting.
