Life without the "Top 6 Allergens" can be difficult. T offers recipes, product and restaurant reviews as well as shopping guides to take some of the bite out of grabbing a bite on a restrictive diet.

Recipe: Leek and Sweet Potato Soup

photo (2)This was another one of our recipes from our purge of our fridge and freezer.  T says that it’s soup season and that meant an improvised soup.  Perhaps it pays to keep a variety of frozen veggies around?


  • 1 Lbs Frozen Chopped Leeks
  • 4 Cups Chicken Stock
  • 4 Cups Water
  • 8 oz Baby Carrots
  • 4 Small Sweet Potatoes (Peeled and Rough Cut)
  • 2 Tbsp Coconut Oil
  • 2 Tbsp Chopped Garlic
  • 2 Tbsp Grated Ginger

In a large pot saute the garlic in the coconut oil until lightly browned.  Add leeks and soften before adding the remaining ingredients to the pot.  Cover and cook on low for an hour ensuring the pot doesn’t boil over.  Take half of the soup and puree in a blender.  Recombine soup and cook on high for 5 minutes before serving.

T’s Review: A hint of pumpkin without pumpkin (which sets off coughing fits).  Creamy without any coconut milk.  A truly guilt free dish.  Definitely one we’ll try again!
